Problem sending emails with attachments with Mac OS 10.5.6 (Leopard) Mail
Posted by Dennis Ganchingco, Last modified by Dennis Ganchingco on 23 April 2009 01:17 PM
A user with Billion BIPAC 7300A modem, has it configured to connect to I.S.P. with the following configuration:

PPPoE LLC
VPI: 8
VCI: 35
MTU: 1492

The user has a MacPro with Mac OS 10.5.6 (Leopard) as the Operating System and using Mac Mail as the email client. They found that they were able to receive emails with attachments fine, but when they go to send out, it would fail or timeout.

In reading some forums in the internet, it suggested that Apple has included a "path MTU discovery" feature. To have work around this, we changed the MTU size in the modem to 576. And the outbound with attachments are working again.
